Koporin Monastery is situated near the town of Velika Plana, in the valley of the Koporin River. The church, presently dedicated to Saint Stephen (originally to the Holy Archangels), is an endowment of an unknown nobleman. In the southern part of the west bay of the nave, the earthly remains of the founder are buried, which were once thought by some to be those of Despot Stefan Lazarević, but that has since been disproved after analyses were conducted.

The church has a plan of the abbreviated cross-in-square with a dome, a tripartite sanctuary, and a subsequently added narthex. In addition to the portrait of Despot Stefan, standing figures of saints are preserved in the lower zone.

The second zone mostly contains scenes from the cycle of Christ’s Passion, as well as busts and standing figures of saints that also appear in the third zone, where scenes from the cycles of Great Feasts and the Passion can also be seen. In the highest sections, Feast scenes are depicted, among which Nativity and Crucifixion can be recognized. In the pendentives of the dome, Evangelists are painted, and Keramion between them on the north side; in the dome, between the windows, the prophets are painted. In the sanctuary, there are images of holy archpriests, deacons, Golgotha crosses, and the Dead Christ in the prothesis apse, as well as scenes of the Annunciation, the Washing of the Feet, the Last Supper, the Ascension, and fragments of the Pentecost.
