New collection: Holy Savior, Kučevište, North Macedonia

The Holy Savior Church in Kučevište stands as a testament to the artistic, spiritual, and political vitality of the 14th‑century Balkans. Its architecture reflects the mature Byzantine tradition, while its frescoes reveal the work of highly skilled painters. Despite later repainting, fire damage, and centuries of change, the church preserves a remarkably rich medieval program that continues to illuminate the religious and cultural history of the region.

The BLAGO Team visited Kuchevishte in June of 2025.

Archiving the Sacred: BLAGO Fund’s 2025 Journey Through Macedonia

The BLAGO Fund continues its mission of preserving and digitizing the heritage of Orthodox nations. This summer, with the blessing of the hierarch of the Macedonian Orthodox Church, Archbishop Stefan and Metropolitan Grigori, our team headed to the heart of Macedonia, to the region where the histories of many nations and empires converge. This year, organizing the work was a bigger challenge because we had to work without the standard scaffolding that we usually take to the field. The success of the trip was made possible by drone technology, high ladders, and our always-at-hand 6-meter-long photo stick. The generosity of the host, the timeless beauty of the landscape, and the monuments.

‍BLAGO Fund at the University of Bamberg Conference

‍BLAGO Fund had the opportunity to present their work at the international online conference organized by the University of Bamberg. The two-day conference, entitled "Islamic Medieval Wall Paintings: Towards an Interdisciplinary Approach," brought together scholars and professionals from diverse disciplines and fields, covering a wide array of topics concerning monuments from different cultures and geographic areas.

FULL OF GRACE / БЛАГОДАТНА

This richly illustrated book presents depictions of the Mother of God in Serbian medieval wall paintings. A unique, high-quality edition, with exquisite photographs accompanied by the texts written by Bishop Maksim Vasiljević and Ivana Lemcool, art historian Ph.D.

BLAGO is a non-profit, non-government organization with many volunteers. For over 20 years, we have been devoted to preserving and promoting Serbian cultural heritage. In doing so, we occasionally require the services of experts and helpers. To carry out our expeditions, we need to cover the cost of transportation and lodging. We manage photo equipment, web servers, desktops, disk arrays, and communication lines throughout the year.
